Tropical Red Cabbage Smoothie

Tropical Red Cabbage Smoothie

Happy Wellness Wednesday!

Instead of throwing out your red cabbage or not using all of it let me show you another way to enjoy it.

Have you ever used red cabbage in your smoothies?  I promise you this tropical smoothie is so delicious!  😋  Don’t let the thought of cabbage in your smoothie fool you before you try it.

Red/Purple cabbage has so many benefits. Here are just a few:

✔️Boost the immune system – Vitamin C component of red cabbage helps to boost your immune system.

✔️Fights inflammation and arthritis – Phytonutrients fight inflammation which in turn combats arthritis

✔️Aids healthy bones & fights against osteoporosis – Vitamin K helps maintain calcium which reduces risks of osteoporosis

✔️ Combats chronic illness – Anthocyanins possess antidiabetic, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-obesity effects, as well as prevention of cardiovascular diseases

✔️ Promotes Healthy Gut – It’s full of gut-friendly insoluble fiber, a type of carbohydrate that can’t be broken down in the intestines. Insoluble fiber helps keep the digestive system healthy by adding bulk to stools and promoting regular bowel movements.  It’s rich in soluble fiber, which has been shown to increase the number of beneficial bacteria in the gut.  Plus it aids in weight loss and helps you to feel full longer.

Here’s the recipe in order:

1 cup Coconut Water

1/2 cup Passion Fruit Juice (You may substitute with Orange Juice)

1/2 cup Berry Flavored Aloe Vera Juice

1 Whole Banana

1 handful of Red Cabbage

1.5 cups of Frozen Tropical Fruit Mix  (Strawberries, pineapple, peaches, mango)

1 tblsp. ground flaxseed or fiber supplement of your choice

1 cup ice

Ginger (to taste)

Sweetener of your choice.

*I personally don’t add sweetener because the passion fruit juice, banana, and pineapple add enough sweetness for my taste.

Blend & enjoy!
